Job summary

SpaceX in Westminster, MD is seeking a Quality Inspector (Starship) to join our on-site team. You will use micrometers, calipers, and profilometer to verify conformance with engineering drawings and space-grade specifications.

Responsibilities include approving/rejecting items, reviewing certifications, and documenting results while supporting continuous improvement within our quality management system. Familiarity with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and AS9100/ISO 9001 is required, with occasional travel.

• Use electronic MRP to route parts to proper departments.

QUALITY INSPECTOR (STARSHIP)

• Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and profilometer
• Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
• Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements through eCerts or physical copies
• Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
• Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace parts
• Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance with company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications
• Use electronic MRP system to route parts and components to proper departments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 1+ years of receiving, precision, mechanical, or metrological inspection experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience operating a forklift or other material handling motorized vehicles and equipment
• Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)
• Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
• Experience detecting design and drawing flaws
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5
• Experience with GD&T and use of metrology tools and gauges
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This position is based in Westminster, MD and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary
• Willing to travel (up to 10%)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Level 1: $25.00 - $31.00/hour
Level 2: $29.00 - $37.00/hour
Level 3: $34.00 - $43.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
