L3Harris Technologies, Inc. seeks an Inspector C to support the Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, AL.

The role focuses on precision CMM inspections of inert rocket motor hardware and collaboration with Quality Engineers and CMM programmers to ensure compliance with stringent specifications. Qualified candidates will have GD&T knowledge, hands-on experience with CMM tools (including Zeiss Calypso), and the ability to lead quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of inspection experience, or an associate degree with 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to perform confined space entry.

Responsibilities

• Use CMM inspection techniques to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Work closely with cognizant Quality Engineers and CMM programmers.
• Provide tooling inspection data to Quality Engineering to support the Huntsville calibration system.
• Utilize GD&T knowledge to interpret engineering requirements and correlate to CMM inspection results.
• Use critical thinking to troubleshoot inconsistent inspection results.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure products meet specifications and schedule requirements; oversee and train on precision inspection devices.
• Evaluate processes to create standardized inspection methods minimizing errors.
• Assist in developing methods to modify manufacturing processes and collect data for research.
• Troubleshoot processes and identify/modify/upscale out of control processes and production escapes.

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Inspector C to support operations at our state‑of‑the‑art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL. This facility specializes in inert manufacturing, including the fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware. While the schedule will be driven by unit operation requirements, this position is structured as a 3/12 shift from Friday through Sunday, working 6am - 6:30pm.

Essential Functions:

• Use CMM precision inspection techniques to inspect products, manufacturing tools, processes, and procured items to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Work closely with cognizant Quality Engineers and CMM programmers.
• Provide tooling inspection data to Quality Engineering to support the Huntsville calibration system.
• Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge to interpret engineering requirements and be able to correlate these requirements to CMM inspection results.
• Use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot inconsistent inspection results.
• Work with the operations team to ensure products meet specifications and schedule requirements. Coordinate with the Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers in operations to troubleshoot and recommend solutions for problems. Oversee and train on the use of various precision inspection measuring devices (CMM, Laser Tracker, Romer Arm, Metrascan, etc.).
• Evaluate various similar processes within the shop and create standardized inspection methods and criteria to minimize error, mistake‑proof processes, and define standardized work.
• Provide assistance in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process, collect data, and/or assist in research work, exercising judgment to identify and recommend solutions where errors may be very difficult to detect and require significant expenditures to resolve.
• Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify and/or upscale out of control processes and production escapes.

Qualifications:

• Requires fully proficient job knowledge and skills. A High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of relevant inspection experience, or a post‑secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, is required.
• Must be able to perform confined space entry.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience working in a quality role in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience and understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing systems (GD&T is preferred.
• Experience with Zeiss Calypso programming.
• Experience leading and communication with a team.
• Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Actions analysis.
