Job summary

U.S. Urology Partners is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urogynecology/urology services in a busy office setting. You will perform clinical procedures, assist providers, and help maintain efficient patient flow while ensuring patient confidentiality and compassionate care.

The role requires vocational Medical Assisting training and a Medical Assistant Certificate, with 1–3 years of related experience. Strong computer skills and professional communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical training in Medical Assisting required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate required.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate basic web-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs multiple clinical responsibilities and procedures, such as urinalysis, urodynamic studies, bladder scan, and urinary catheterization.
  • Develops and maintains competencies including urodynamic testing and urinary catheterization under guidance.
  • Cleans, disinfects and inspects all medical equipment and instruments used for patient care between patients.
  • Performs departmental screening, lab tests and specimen collection; provides patients with test instructions.
  • Monitors patients during and after routine care and procedures; performs lab testing, phlebotomy and vital signs; documents results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Urogynecologist, performs specialized tests and procedures and completes a variety of medical assisting activities in an office based clinical setting. Coordinates and expedites the flow of patients and providers, while ensuring smooth functioning of the division. Adheres to hospital policy regarding patient confidentiality, exhibits a willingness and ability to communicate self as a caring and respectful person, capable of sensitively responding to patient’s needs.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Performs multiple clinical responsibilities and procedures, which may include but are not limited to urinalysis, urodynamic studies, bladder scan, and urinary catheterization. Appropriately seeks provider assistance and consultation when necessary. Provides assistance and support to the physicians and nurses as needed.

  • Develops and maintains competencies including urodynamic testing and urinary catheterization according to division protocol. Performs these tasks under the guidance and support of clinical provider. Maintains yearly competency in these specialized tasks as overseen by clinical provide or supervisor.

  • Cleans, disinfects and inspects all medical equipment and instruments used for patient care between each patient according to guidelines required by the department. Inspects equipment on routine basis for damage or repairs.

  • Performs appropriate departmental screening, lab tests and specimen collection. Implements quality control standards as required. Provide patients with relevant instructions for specific tests and procedures.

  • Performs a wide variety of activities during patient visits. Sets-up and assists providers and nurses. Monitors patients during and following routine care and procedures. Performs lab testing, specimen collection, phlebotomy and vital signs according to protocol. Communicates results in a timely manner to appropriate clinical providers and documents accurately in medical record.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/ or Experience
  • Vocational or Technical training in Medical Assisting required.

  • Certificate 1 Medical Assistant Certificate required.

  • 1-3 years related work experience required.

  • Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience as a Urogynecology, Urology or Gynecology Medical Assistant.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of people.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
