Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a highly technical data engineering professional to design, build, and operator production-grade data pipelines powering AI/ML across CMC and manufacturing. You will integrate diverse source systems — MES, LIMS, QMS, ERP — and transform them into governed data assets for data scientists and engineers.

You will develop scalable pipelines, semantic models, data quality controls, and reusable data products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to accelerate regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 2 years’ experience or Master’s degree with 0 years’ experience.
• Experience designing and building enterprise-grade data pipelines and data products.
• Proficient in Python for data engineering tasks.
• Strong SQL across modern databases and dialects.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data stack tools.
• ETL/ELT pipelines using recognized tools and services.
• MDM, metadata management, and data cataloging experience.
• API development standards (REST, GraphQL, OData).
• Data modeling (logical, physical, conceptual).
• Ownership, accountability, and bias for impact.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data ingestion pipelines connecting source systems to centralized environments.
• Build connectors and integration layers for heterogeneous data formats.
• Support batch and real-time data patterns with appropriate architectures.
• Develop harmonized data models and ontologies across sites.
• Execute semantic mapping to enterprise data standards.
• Ensure data quality controls, data lineage, and governance.
• Develop governed data products for AI/ML, including feature stores.
• Contribute to cloud-based data platform design and IaC/CI/CD pipelines.
• Engage with scientists and engineers to influence technical decisions.
