Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Principal Data Engineer, AI Enablement to architect and build data solutions that accelerate AI/ML initiatives across the pharma value chain. You will collaborate with data engineers, scientists, architects, and analysts to deliver scalable, AI-ready data platforms and guide the integration of LLMs for knowledge extraction and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or Master's with 7+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in relevant area.
• Experience with MLOps, LLM integration, Data Agents, Agentic Memory and Graph RAG systems, text mining, and unstructured data processing.
• Experience designing and building data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data models.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
• Experience with CI/CD practices, data quality controls, governance, and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional team of engineers, architects, data scientists, business analysts and product owners to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable AI-ready data solutions for diverse datasets to support pharma value chain.
• Design, develop, and maintain solutions involving integration of LLMs for data mining, knowledge extraction, and automation of data-driven insights.
• Design, develop, and maintain solutions to operationalize ML models, including deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Capture and interpret user requirements into data models enabling graph analytics, semantic reasoning, and GenAI integration.
• Research and recommend tools, frameworks, and platforms for graph databases, vector stores, and large language models integration including agent-based solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and advise partners on feasibility and impact of emerging AI data technologies.
• Ensure compliance with AbbVie software development and lifecycle policies.
