Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to work under licensed healthcare professionals within a jail/detention facility. You will schedule appointments, maintain medical records, take vital signs, prepare patients for exams, draw blood, and administer PPD tests while documenting histories and patient flow.

CPR certification and CMA credential are required. The role requires completion of a Medical Assistant program and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• One year of Medical Assistant experience required.
• Certified Medical Assistant Certificate required.
• CPR required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course required.
• Pre Employment Drug Screening, Background Screening and Security Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointments and maintains medical records information.
• Takes and records vital signs and prepares patients for examination.
• Draws blood and applies/read PPD skin tests.
• Enters medical and social histories and assists with intakes and discharges.
