Westminster Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is recruiting for Part Time Certified Medication Assistants (CMA) and Geriatric Nursing Assistants (GNA). This position combines responsibilities of both CMA and GNA roles.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligible to enter, graduate, and pass a state test within 120 days of employment
  • Understanding of medication administration procedures and successful completion of a state-approved training course
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Understanding of resident care procedures and standards
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • Prior healthcare experience is desirable
  • Ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, families, and others
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods into practice
  • Ability to communicate resident conditions effectively

Job duties include:

  • Administering medication according to physician’s orders and regulations
  • Monitoring for side effects and interactions
  • Accounting for controlled drugs and reporting discrepancies
  • Charting medication administration and observations
  • Maintaining medication inventory
  • Assisting with rounds, preparing medication records, providing personal care, and performing basic nursing functions
  • Creating a safe, comfortable environment and maintaining documentation
  • Participating in training and educational programs
  • Performing other duties as assigned in accordance with policies and standards
