Qualifications

• Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• Notifies licensed staff when a resident reports pain.
• May take and record residents' vital signs as required.
• Records medication and treatments in the computer system as needed.
• Responds to resident call lights and checks on residents with supervision.
• Observes and reports adverse reactions or side effects to a nurse.
• Performs resident care activities to ensure safety and reduce errors.
• Supports a culture of safety and quality.
• Administers PRN medications in line with regulations and facility policy.
• Documents changes in resident condition and unusual incidents.
