Job Purpose:
To set up and administer medications under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse, and to function as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) when needed.
Shift Availability:
Weekend only: 7AM-10PM
Essential job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration Functions: Prepares, administers, and documents medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
- Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions: Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc. Assist with resident recreation programs. Prepares residents for meals and snacks. Assists residents in eating where needed, and records food intake. Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures, reports changes in resident condition to Nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and reports accidents and incidents, and provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor.
- Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control: Understands and follows safety, sanitation and infection control policy and procedures, to include but not limited to proper hand washing, proper wearing of masks and gloves and promptly reports any violations to supervisor.
- In-service and continuing education: Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state. Completes all required online education as deemed necessary by the state and the facility.
- Resident Rights and relationships: Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights. Promotes positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators, presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
- Other Job Functions: Support functions such as assisting in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents. Attend and participate in training, educational activities, and staff meetings; assist with orientation and training of other staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Physical and Sensory Requirements: Works in a climate-controlled environment, with exposure to infectious diseases, requires good communication, physical ability to perform job functions, and ability to remain calm under stress.
- Qualifications: Must be a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) in good standing with the State. Ability to read, write, follow directions, relate positively to residents and families, maintain attendance, and perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
