Overview

Central Market is a specialty grocery store that originated in Austin, Texas in 1994 and has expanded to multiple locations across the state. Known for its freshness, we offer a wide selection of edible products sourced directly from the finest producers worldwide. Our stores feature hundreds of cheeses, thousands of wines, extensive produce sections, and expert staff, making us a food lover's paradise. We believe food unites families and communities, preserves cultures, and fosters new traditions. Each store is a marketplace for exchanging goods, services, and ideas for food enthusiasts.

Responsibilities

The Sales Representative will be responsible for stocking and selling products to both new and existing retail customers. Key duties include:

  1. Providing excellent customer service.
  2. Organizing, cleaning, and preparing the back area for deliveries.
  3. Keeping the sales floor clean and free from spills.
  4. Stocking and rotating items as needed.
  5. Resetting products and maintaining shelf conditions, ensuring accuracy of shelf tags and signage.
  6. Checking shipments for outdated or damaged products to ensure quality and freshness.
  7. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations regarding product safety, freshness, refrigeration, and sanitation.
  8. Maintaining standards in shrink, safety, and inventory control.
  9. Assisting in merchandising to maximize sales.
  10. Using suggestive selling techniques to increase sales.

Experience and Education: Typically requires 0-2 years of experience. Knowledge of departmental products, food preparation, and equipment is preferred. Extensive knowledge of specialty foods and food prep is essential. Strong customer service skills, passion for food, and materials handling certification are desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and in extreme temperatures are required.

Physical and Other Requirements: Must be able to lift and manage weights exceeding 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs.
