Job summary

Mark Thomas is seeking a Construction Management Area Manager in the California Bay Area to lead the CM group and guide staff across Oakland, San Jose, and Walnut Creek locations.

This full-time role directs CM work, satisfies client expectations, and drives continuous improvement while expanding the company’s presence as the consultant of choice. CA PE licensure and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• 12-15+ years progressively responsible CM experience.
• BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
• CA PE license required; or PE in another state with ability to obtain CA licensure within one year.
• Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
• Knowledge of construction management best practices and deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, agreements, and administration of such documents and processes.
• Competent/outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of project financials and metrics.
• Strong business development skills and successful track record for winning work.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people.
• Willingness to travel.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight to construction management to successfully complete projects and satisfy clients.
• Manages quality, budget, and schedule of responsible projects.
• Achieves the established targets for financial success & utilization, including but not limited to revenue, profitability, and work in progress.
• Provides oversight for proper administration of construction project contracts and agreements; manages elements of risk and compliance appropriately.
• Provides oversight for construction site safety for Mark Thomas staff.
• Engages with all aspects of CM proposals to expand business and backlog.
• Participates in project interviews/presentations with potential new and existing clients to win work; maintains a productive relationship with business development and marketing partners.
• Develops and lead cohesive area CM teams to achieve division objectives.
• Participates in strategic and operational planning for the division.

The CM Area Manager wins and manages CM work, satisfies client expectations, and directs, develops, and mentors CM staff in the region. This position is engaged in efforts toward continuous process improvement, supporting successful business operations and embracing/extending the brand and reputation of the Company to be the consultant of choice by clients.
