Job summary

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Clubhouse Generalist to join the Clubhouse Team in Bremerton. You will support adults in recovery by engaging members in meaningful work, promoting wellness, and fostering skills, confidence, and connections through a collaborative work-ordered day.

Responsibilities include facilitating daily operations, coordinating member services and kitchen tasks, and working with employers and Vocational Rehabilitation to create employment opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Entry level; driving clients in a personal vehicle; must meet driving requirements (21+, 3+ years licensed, MVR check, valid WA license, reliable transportation).
  • Licensure: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration; completion of Washington Peer Counselor Training and certification within 6 months.

  • Monitor, coach, and train members in Transitional Employment Placements (TEP).

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Clubhouse Generalist to join our Clubhouse Team, where we support adults in recovery by building on their strengths, abilities, and goals through meaningful work and community involvement. Working alongside Clubhouse members, you'll help facilitate the daily operations of the program, including the business, member services, and kitchen units. As part of our team, you'll engage members in a collaborative work-ordered day, promote wellness and recovery, and create opportunities for individuals to develop skills, confidence, and connections that support their success both within and beyond the Clubhouse community.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with members in gaining and/or enhancing skills for employment while completing tasks side by side with members at the Clubhouse
  • Monitor, coach, and train members working in Transitional Employment Placements (TEP)
  • Establish and maintain communication with employers for Transitional Employment Placements to build a professional relationship.
  • Learn and comply with the Clubhouse International standards
  • Train, link, and access members interested in employment according to their strengths and abilities.
  • Responsible for completion of all documentation, including but not limited to treatment plans, functional assessment rating scales, progress notes, and more
  • Engage members to work on meaningful work and activities at the Clubhouse
  • Work with Vocational Rehabilitation and other employment services in the area on referrals for their services
  • Develop and monitor Transitional Employment, Supported Employment, and Independent Employments placements.
  • Accurately document services provided to members in electronic health record system.
  • Track data and statistics unique to the employment of Clubhouse members using multiple tools, including Microsoft Excel

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Entry level (no prior work related). This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency. Therefore, the incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.

Licensure: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Completion of the Washington State Mental Health Division’s Peer Counselor Training and the subsequent certification as a Peer Counselor within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness. Capacity to work well with children and families.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.
Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries while balancing the sometimes-conflicting demands of being both a peer to clients and an employee of the agency. Seek appropriate clinical supervision where necessary, particularly around boundary issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet productivity standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Use of standard kitchen equipment (stove, coffee pot, microwave, etc.) and use of a motor vehicle.

Work Environment: Office, recreational clubhouse.

Mental/Physical Requirements
  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 pounds (frequently), up to 20 pounds (occasionally), up to 50 pounds (seldom).
  • Use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulation, including reaching above shoulder level.
  • Have visual acuity and peripheral vision sufficient to read written materials and observe surroundings.
  • Have hearing sufficient to communicate effectively.
