Job summary

Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, IL is seeking a part-time server to deliver attentive, table-side food and beverage service in the main dining room. You will provide a polished guest experience through menu knowledge, professionalism, and careful timing.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in a serving role
• Previous experience in a mid-scale, full-service restaurant environment
• Strong knowledge of table-side service fundamentals and guest engagement
• Familiarity with POS systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a professional, guest-focused approach

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests courteously, offering personalized attention whenever possible
• Check in with guests throughout the meal to ensure satisfaction and promptly address additional requests or special needs
• Monitor tables continuously to anticipate needs without interrupting the guest experience
• Present menus and take accurate food and beverage orders, providing menu guidance and thoughtful recommendations
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the food menu, daily specials, and seasonal offerings
• Understand basic spirits, wine, and beer knowledge and how beverages pair with meals
• Serve food and beverages in accordance with established service standards and timing expectations
• Execute tableside service when required (wine presentation, dessert service, finishing touches)
• Follow proper wine service standards, including opening, pouring, and decanting when necessary
• Communicate guest orders clearly and efficiently to kitchen and bar teams using POS or handheld systems
• Collaborate closely with bussers, food runners, and hosts to maintain smooth and efficient service flow
• Process guest payments accurately, including cash and card transactions, and present bills professionally
• Complete opening, closing, and side work duties in alignment with service standards
