Job summary

High Desert Medical Group in California is seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to supervise our Urgent Care lab. Under the Urgent Care Director, the CLS analyzes specimens, ensures test accuracy, maintains equipment, and supports patient care.

The role includes performing hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and immunology tests, reviewing results, and communicating findings to physicians and staff. A CLS with current certification and a bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Current certifications as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, procedures, and regulations.
• In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operations.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and analyze biological samples using lab equipment.
• Interpret results and ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Collaborate with physicians to discuss test results and implications for patient care.
• Perform routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and immunology.
• Maintain specimen integrity and ensure quality control.
• Perform calibrations and run quality control material at appropriate intervals.
• Enter results accurately and review computer reports for accuracy.
• Maintain a safe and neat work area and comply with safety protocols.
