Job summary

UC San Diego Health, McGrath Infusion Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to work in the Infusion Stat Laboratory. Under general supervision, the CLS performs a wide variety of laboratory tests by manual and automated methods, from specimen procurement through data analysis and reporting to support diagnostic and treatment decisions.

The position is outpatient stat and operates 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm, with two 10-hour shifts per week.

• California license to perform chemistry and hematology.

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health, McGrath Infusion Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to work in the Infusion Stat Laboratory. Under general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs a wide variety of laboratory tests by manual methods or use of various automated, mechanical or electronic devices. Performs the full range of duties from specimen procurement through data analysis and reporting, in order to provide data for use in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease in all areas of the lab. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field.
• Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• California license to perform chemistry and hematology.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience.
• At least two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience with Ortho Vitros.
• Experience with Sysmex XN-L series.
• Works well in a fast-paced environment, can multitask, and is a team player.
• Adept in troubleshooting skills and a process improvement advocate.
• Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the CLS or CLSS level.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• This is an outpatient stat laboratory operating 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm. The CLS will work two 10-hour shifts per week.
• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $110,079 - $145,408 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $52.72 - $69.64

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
