Job summary

FTI Defense - Frontier Technology Inc. is seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to operate and secure cloud and Linux-based systems for the Digital Bloodhound program.

You will automate infrastructure with Ansible, monitor health, and coordinate with security and engineering teams to maintain reliability and security while supporting build and deployment workflows. The role requires 4+ years in similar operations, hands-on RHEL and cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), and an active Top Secret

Qualifications

Overview

FTI is seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to support the Digital Bloodhound program.

In this role, you’ll help operate and secure critical cloud and Linux-based systems, troubleshoot and optimize infrastructure, and develop automation to enhance reliability and efficiency. Candidates with experience in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are encouraged to apply. AWS and AWS GovCloud experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems to support reliable and secure operations.
• Monitor cloud instances, services, and system health. Respond to operational and security alerts and resolve availability, performance, and configuration issues.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation to manage configurations, deploy changes, and reduce repetitive administrative work.
• Use shell scripting and Python to automate system administration tasks and support infrastructure services.
• Manage identity and access by maintaining user accounts, group memberships, permissions, and access controls in alignment with security policies and least-privilege practices.
• Investigate and resolve cloud support tickets and system issues. Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with engineering and security teams on corrective actions.
• Support security incident investigations, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening in coordination with the security team.
• Maintain infrastructure and automation code in Git-based repositories using branching, version control, and collaborative review practices.
• Implement configuration changes through established change-management processes and coordinate infrastructure updates with the appropriate teams.
• Create and maintain configuration documentation, operating procedures, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot infrastructure issues affecting build, test, and deployment workflows.

Education/Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of relevant systems administration, cloud administration, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps experience, including hands-on responsibility for administering and troubleshooting systems.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Ansible automation and playbooks.
• Hands-on Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, configuration, and troubleshooting experience.
• Practical experience administering, supporting, or deploying infrastructure with at least one major cloud provider, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Git-based repositories, branching, version control, and collaborative workflows.
• Experience monitoring system health, investigating operational alerts, and troubleshooting infrastructure availability and performance issues.
• Experience with Linux command-line operations, Bash or comparable Unix/Linux shell scripting, and Python scripting.
• Experience managing system access, permissions, and configurations in accordance with security policies.
• Current Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC certification that meets the position’s applicable DoD 8140 requirements, or the ability to obtain an accepted certification before starting.
• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field.
• AWS or AWS GovCloud administration experience.
• Experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools. Candidates with limited Terraform experience may be considered provided they demonstrate strong Ansible, RHEL, Git, and cloud administration skills provided Terraform training is completed prior to on boarding
• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform.
• GitLab experience and familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, including troubleshooting build and deployment workflows.
• Experience with container technologies and related tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Helm.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Kibana, Elastic, or Splunk.
• AWS CloudOps Engineer Certification, Associate AWS SysOps Administrator Certification, Azure Administrator Associate Certification, or Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) Certification.

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $130-$170K. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
