Job summary
Vamonos IT in Washington, DC, seeks a Cloud Solutions Architect to lead modernization, migration, and integration across a Federal enterprise portfolio. The Architect will guide Azure-based architectures and collaborate with Government leadership, project managers, cybersecurity, and development teams on mission-critical Microsoft technologies.
This on-site role requires coordination with cross-functional teams, strong cloud migration experience, and the ability to ensure security and compliance
Qualifications
- 12+ years enterprise IT architecture, systems engineering, or modernization experience.
- 7+ years architecting Microsoft Azure enterprise solutions.
- 5+ years leading enterprise modernization initiatives.
- Experience leading AWS-to-Azure migrations.
- Experience designing Azure Government solutions (GCC/GCC High preferred).
- Experience leading Agile software development for enterprise apps.
- Experience supporting Federal Government environments.
- Ability to brief executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Proven incident resolution and service restoration experience.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with modernization and integration initiatives.
- Experience coordinating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Vendor coordination and escalation experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical planning and execution of enterprise cloud modernization initiatives.
- Serve as technical lead for AWS-to-Azure migration activities.
- Design Azure cloud architectures supporting mission-critical applications.
- Develop modernization roadmaps for legacy applications.
- Lead architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
- Guide Azure engineers, software developers, and DevOps engineers.
- Develop migration strategies, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.
- Ensure solutions comply with Government security, Section 508 accessibility, and records management.
- Review designs for scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Support project planning, risk management, and technical decision making.
- Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and implementation guidance.
- Participate in customer meetings with CIO, COR, and PM.
- Support proposal development and technical planning for modernization initiatives.

The Cloud Solutions Architect will provide technical leadership for the modernization, migration, integration, and ongoing support of a Federal enterprise application portfolio. The Architect will serve as the technical lead responsible for planning and executing cloud migration initiatives, modernizing legacy applications, designing Azure-based enterprise architectures, and guiding engineering teams supporting mission-critical Microsoft technologies.
This position requires regular on-site support and close collaboration with Government leadership, project managers, cybersecurity personnel, and application development teams.
- 12+ years of enterprise IT architecture, systems engineering, or application modernization experience.
- Formal Education (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, PhD) may be used to offset experience requirement
- 7+ years architecting Microsoft Azure enterprise solutions.
- 5+ years leading enterprise application modernization initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading AWS-to-Azure cloud migrations.
- Experience designing solutions within Microsoft Azure Government (Azure GCC or GCC High preferred).
- Experience leading Agile software development teams supporting enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting Federal Government environments.
- Experience briefing executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to support incident resolution and service restoration activities
