Job summary

IT-Strat is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design, optimize, and secure cloud architectures for defense and government initiatives in Falls Church, VA. You will lead migrations to AWS, develop automation for provisioning, and maintain infrastructure-as-code while collaborating with DevOps to strengthen CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires 5+ years in cloud architecture, a bachelor’s in CS/engineering, and the ability to obtain DHS suitability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing cloud architectures (AWS preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

Cloud Solutions Architect

Falls Church, VA

Information Technology Strategies, Inc. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to work for our company.

Summary:

• Client Agency is Defense Logistics Agency
• Design, optimize, and enhance cloud-based architectures to support ESS operational requirements.
• Creating scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that enable rapid deployment and customization of engagement infrastructure across diverse mission scenarios.
• Lead planning and implementation for migration of on-prem capabilities into the AWS cloud
• Customize capabilities to align with engagement scope, technical, and operational parameters
• Develop automation frameworks to streamline provisioning and deployment processes
• Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code templates and documentation
• Ensure architecture supports rapid reconfiguration for dynamic mission needs
• Implement security controls including encryption, namespace obfuscation, and hardened configurations
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to improve operational capabilities
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to implementation teams
• Support troubleshooting of complex architectural issues during active operations

Requirements:

• Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC). (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)
• Must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
• 5+ years of experience designing cloud architectures, preferably on AWS
• 8+ years of directly relevant experience
• Strong expertise in AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desired Skills:

• Experience designing solutions for cybersecurity or incident response operations
• Knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures
• Experience with Splunk
• Experience migrating on-prem legacy systems to a cloud environment
• Experience with Azure and Entra
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS)
• Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST)
• Background in system administration or DevOps
