Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for an Internal Cloud project. The role focuses on Linux/Unix systems, internal cloud platforms, automation, and infrastructure-as-code to design, deploy, and support reliable cloud services at scale.

The position is a contract role with a hybrid work arrangement: 3 days onsite required at Charlotte, NC and Jersey City, NJ sites. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and experience across the full cloud service

Qualifications

• 5+ years on Unix/Linux server platforms and Windows/Linux compute.
• Proficiency in Terraform, Shell scripting, Java, Python, and Ansible.
• Experience with full lifecycle of cloud services from design to operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain services post-launch by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and system health.
• Troubleshoot issues across the stack: hardware, software, applications, networks.
• Perform deep dives into reliability issues and roll out fixes with engineering/ops.
• Drive standardization across services with embedded SRE teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation for internal cloud services.
• Scope and create automation for deployment, management, and observability.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux/Unix systems, internal cloud platforms, automation, and infrastructure-as-code and a proven ability to design, deploy, operate, and support reliable cloud services at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain services post-launch by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.

• Troubleshoot issues across the stack, including hardware, software, applications, and networks.

• Perform deep dives into systemic and latent reliability issues and partner with engineering and operations to produce and roll out fixes.

• Drive standardization across disciplines and services in conjunction with embedded SRE teams.

• Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for internal cloud services.

• Scope and create automation for deployment, management, and observability of services.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5 years with Unix/Linux server platforms and Windows/Linux dedicated compute.

• Proficiency in Terraform, Shell scripting, Java, Python, and Ansible development.

• Experience with full lifecycle of cloud services from inception and design through deployment, operations, and support.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across hardware, software, application, and network layers.

Preferred Skills:

• Automation design for deployment, configuration management, and observability.

• Experience partnering with embedded SRE teams and driving cross-service standards.

Work Arrangement & Submission Details:

• Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite required.

• Maximum submissions per supplier: 4.
