Job summary

Akerman LLP in Atlanta seeks a Director of Cloud Services to lead the strategic evaluation, implementation, and optimization of the firm's cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft 365, Azure, and security/compliance tooling.

You will drive modernization, governance, and enablement across legal and administrative teams, partnering with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions and drive digital workplace productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in IT infrastructure and cloud services with leadership in professional services or legal settings.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft cloud services, including 365, Azure AD, and Exchange Online.
• Experience with legal/compliance requirements and risk-aware cloud deployments.
• Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, SC-400, SC-300, AZ-104, MS-500) are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the firm’s cloud services roadmap centered on Microsoft solutions.
• Evaluate platforms and services aligning with legal tech strategy and risk profile.
• Modernize legacy systems toward cloud-native or hybrid environments.
• Lead cloud services governance, security, and compliance with ABA, GDPR, HIPAA standards.
• Oversee cloud operations, incident response, and performance monitoring.
• Provide escalation support for M365, Azure AD, and cloud security controls.
• Develop documentation, SLAs, and support protocols with IT and helpdesk teams.
• Enable legal teams to securely adopt Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive; drive adoption programs.
