Job summary

Centific is seeking a Server/IT Operations Specialist in the United States to plan servers, install OS, perform daily maintenance, and troubleshoot hardware issues. You will work with data center hardware and network components.

You will maintain asset data, lifecycle, and be on-call with weekend rotations; required degree in CS/EE and experience with PXE, Ansible, Linux, TCP/IP, IPMI/NCSI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of data center interdependencies and technologies.
• Experience with remote OS installations (e.g., PXE boot).
• Familiar with automation tools; able to read/run Shell or Python scripts.
• Familiar with Linux; capable of locating hardware faults.

About Job

• Plan the server or rack, install server operating system, daily server maintenance & troubleshooting, network troubleshooting, repair and follow-up break-fix of the server and other hardware, solve hardware batch failures and problems.
• Maintain data on internal systems including asset management, ticketing & rack elevations, collect and check online asset data, server lifecycle management
• On-call on duty (regular day working hour & weekend working hour rotation), responsible for dealing with the problems raised by the business owner side

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer science, Electrical engineering or any other relevant fields
• Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies
• Experience with massive remote OS installation such as PXE boot
• Familiar with simple automation tools, such as Ansible. Can understand and run Shell or Python scripts
• Familiar with Linux system, able to locate hardware faults; Strong analytical and problem solving
• TCP/IP knowledge concepts - Subnetting, VLANs, DNS, Ipv6; Ability to perform general troubleshooting
• Knowledge of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and NCSI
• Strong documentation skills and habits
• Strong ability to work under pressure; Strong learning ability, broad technical interest; Strong sense of responsibility, full of enthusiasm for work
• Good communication skills in English, Mandarin is preferred, good teamwork spirit; Ability to work independently
