Job summary

Veeam is seeking a Security Engineer III to own detection and response across our cloud landscape, building a security data lake and guardrails in Azure and AWS. This hands-on role sits in Platform Security, partnering with SRE and Product Engineering to ship reliable security controls.

You'll design telemetry pipelines, author detections as code, automate triage, and push security into production via CI/CD. Strong Azure/AWS experience required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in security engineering, cloud operations, or detection engineering with hands-on ownership of production cloud security work.
• Production Terraform experience; ability to create reusable modules used by multiple teams.
• Deep Azure and AWS knowledge: identities, logging, network boundaries, and defaults.
• Proven detection development: authored detections from real telemetry and validated results.
• Strong fundamentals in RBAC, secrets management, egress control, and public-exposure prevention.
• Fluent in at least one security query language (KQL/SQL) and ability to diagnose data-model issues.
• Python or similar scripting for tooling; capable of building/maintaining automation.
• Track record of shipping production code or infrastructure; hands-on role, not advisory.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the security data lake including telemetry ingestion from Azure, AWS, and SaaS sources.
• Write, tune, and version-control detections as code; manage lifecycle through CI/CD and testing.
• Automate triage and enrichment; integrate runbooks and reduce meantime-to-detect/respond.
• Harden Azure and AWS environments: identity, RBAC, network, logging, and exposure controls.
• Deliver cloud security controls as Terraform modules deployed across environments.
• Prioritize cloud security findings; partner with resource owners to close gaps.
• Run threat framework assessments; identify gaps and close them in collaboration with teams.
• Set strategic direction for detection and cloud security tooling adoption or retirement.
