Job summary

The District of Columbia Government, Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), seeks a Supervisory IT Specialist to lead the DC Cloud platform engineering and operations team. You will drive hybrid multi‑cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to improve reliability and security for 75+ agencies.

Reporting to the ACTO, you will oversee budget, staffing, performance metrics, and governance, coach staff, manage vendor relationships, and ensure projects

Qualifications

• Specialized experience at the appropriate grade helps perform this role.
• Experience leading cloud infrastructure teams and executing platform engineering initiatives.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, IaC, and platform reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead DC Cloud platform engineering and operations, including hybrid cloud and container orchestration.
• Oversee design, deployment, and lifecycle management of cloud and on‑prem platforms, ensuring high availability and security.
• Develop budgets, roadmaps, resource estimates, and performance metrics aligned with OCTO’s mission.
• Coach staff, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
