Job summary

Xona Space Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced SRE to own cloud operations across AWS and Kubernetes, from alpha to production, ensuring scalable, reliable services for our global PNT platform.

You will build best-in-class observability, implement dashboards and alerts to stay ahead of SLOs, and champion automated, zero-downtime deployments with IaC. Join a tight-knit team solving hard engineering problems, shaping the future of our Pulsar infrastructure, and mentoring others in Kubernetes

Qualifications

• Strong infrastructure or SRE engineer who gets excited about running systems at scale and making them better every day.
• Strong Kubernetes experience, including production operations, deployment tooling, networking, IAM, and GitOps patterns on hyperscale vendors; on‑premises experience (OpenShift/etc) is also a plus.
• Thoughtful about how testing/release workflow design affect system reliability in a microservices architecture.
• Experienced with container orchestration (Kubernetes/etc), infrastructure‑as‑code (OpenTofu/Terraform/etc), and cloud networking.
• You have great instincts for observability, and your alerts or dashboards caught real problems (OpenTelemetry experience is a plus).
• You're opinionated about how to automate processes, maintain complex systems, and safely ship.
• You believe in empowering SWE to understand and manage their deployments and infra autonomously.
• You rise to the challenge of working in a small team with outsize impact and visibility.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud operations: Run environments from alpha to production on AWS and Kubernetes, helping software engineers scale services, plan capacity, release often, and optimize costs.
• Develop best‑in‑class observability: Own monitoring end to end with dashboards and timely alerts; enforce standards for teams to ship confidently.
• Automate everything: CI/CD, high availability, infrastructure‑as‑code, zero‑downtime deployments; promote reproducible, automatic processes.
• Design for the future: ensure infrastructure supports Pulsar 100x scale and new product directions with flexible testing and release flows.
• Be a Kubernetes technical leader: establish patterns for deployment/operations and mentor teams orchestrating containers across Xona.
