Job summary

Referment is partnering with an established investment management firm to hire a Cloud Engineer responsible for production compute infrastructure. The role blends hands-on platform engineering with operational ownership, building automation and improving Linux reliability while collaborating with technologists to move ideas from experimentation to production and support services through their lifecycle.

You will design, build and operate hybrid grid-computing infrastructure that can burst

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of infra or software engineering experience supporting production systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Strong Linux skills in a hybrid environment, including debugging network traffic across public and private links.
• Experience with modern development and infrastructure-as-code practices such as Terraform.
• A solid grounding in cloud security fundamentals.
• The communication, organisation and judgement to carry technical initiatives forward.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate hybrid grid-computing infrastructure that can burst workloads into AWS, GCP and Azure.
• Improve reliability and performance of Linux-based compute platforms and networking.
• Develop tooling and automation to make cloud capabilities consistent for engineering teams.
• Own cloud-platform observability and participate in an operational escalation rotation.
• Partner with technologists to identify cloud opportunities and guide adoption.
• Apply secure-by-default principles throughout platform design and delivery.
