Job summary

American Express is seeking a Cloud Engineer to build versatile, secure, and scalable cloud-based services in our cross-over PaaS environment in Albany.

You will collaborate with API design, UI, QE, and product teams, deploying automated solutions, writing clean code, and continuously learning new technologies. The role emphasizes API/middleware integration and modern cloud tooling, with hands-on deployment and testing across AWS/GCP/OpenShift/Docker stacks.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Confidential Cloud).
• Experience developing REST APIs using Go and Java.
• Experience with cloud design, CI/CD, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, etc.
• Strong partnership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with NSQL data sets.
• Knowledge of agile application development strategies and QE processes.

Responsibilities

• Build versatile, secure, and accessible cloud-based services within the cross-over PaaS environment
• Develop specialized solutions to enhance the cloud platform, focusing on automation for cloud services deployment
• Collaborate with API design, UI development, quality, and product teams to deliver reliable services
• Research and implement new technologies and libraries for efficient product development
• Build API/middleware solutions that integrate with NSQL, stages, and component frameworks
• Write clean code following best practices: API design, code consistency, refactoring, unit testing, code review
• Commit to producing working code and a desire to learn new technologies
