A leading tech services company is looking for an experienced professional to own the operation and evolution of OpenStack-based private clouds. Key duties include focusing on reliability, upgrades, and automation while troubleshooting infrastructure across compute, network, and storage. Strong experience with Linux and OpenStack is required. As part of synvert, in Portugal, you’ll join a team of experts pushing the boundaries of AI, Data, Product and Platform Engineering, working alongside an international, multidisciplinary team – all from our offices in Leiria, Lisbon and Viseu (so far!).

What do we expect from you?
Key Requirements
  • At least 3 years of working experience

  • Hands‑on experience with OpenStack in production

  • Strong Linux systems administration skills

  • Experience with virtualization (KVM or similar)

  • Good understanding of networking basics (VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancing)

  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible required, Terraform is a plus)

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana or ELK

  • Solid understanding of storage systems (Ceph, NFS, iSCSI or similar)

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently

  • You are comfortable communicating in English (written and spoken)

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with public cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Knowledge of message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Basic understanding of security concepts (IAM, TLS)
  • You have experience working in a fast‑paced start‑up environment
  • Public speaking and blog writing interest to spread our culture and skills

Your Tasks

You’ll own the operation and evolution of OpenStack‑based private clouds, focusing on reliability, upgrades, automation, and solving real infrastructure problems across compute, network, and storage.

This is a role for someone who likes infrastructure foundations, not just pipelines.

  • Run and evolve an OpenStack private cloud (ops, upgrades, stability)
