Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build and operate the platform services that empower operators to manage global AWS Regions and automate routine tasks.

You will contribute end-to-end delivery from design to live-site operation and help shape AI-driven operational capabilities. You will collaborate with operators, service teams, and data scientists to turn data into tooling, improve reliability, and reduce manual toil at scale

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience.
2+ years of design or architecture experience for large-scale systems.
1+ years designing multi-tier, multi-threaded, distributed software.

Responsibilities

Build and operate the platform services that let operations teams define operational scope, automate permissions, formalize service commitments, and measure operational health across AWS Regions.
Deliver features end to end, from design and code through deployment and live-site operation, and scale them to more teams and Regions.
Develop AI and agentic capabilities that automate routine operational response so operations teams can execute at greater scale.
Partner with operators and service teams to turn operational data into tooling that measurably reduces manual effort.
Write well-tested, maintainable code and raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code reviews.
