Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Solution Architect to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based microservices using Java, React, and CI/CD practices. You will automate tests, review code, and mentor teammates while ensuring secure, scalable software across federal contracting domains.

The role requires cloud experience, containerization, and strong communication. Candidates should be eligible for a U.S. government clearance and be based in the McLean, VA area with on-site work expectations.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or 2 years IT experience in lieu of degree.
• 8+ years of experience with Java/React.
• 8+ years of experience with Git SCM providers (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
• 8+ years of experience with one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript).
• 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 5+ years using CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI.
• Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks including unit tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy modular micro-services and cloud-based systems.
• Communicate stakeholder needs to developers.
• Write and debug code for innovative software solutions.
• Troubleshoot security, quality, and reliability issues.
• Participate in code reviews and QA activities.
• Automate unit and functional tests.
• Test code written by others and analyze results.
• Evaluate and develop complex software solutions using APIs and cloud-native tech.
• Ensure software security against threats.
• Identify problems and develop fixes.
• Support production releases and troubleshooting.
• Document code, features, and training guides.
• Create artifacts and gap analyses for environment state and options.
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to modernize systems.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Propose continuous improvement for services.
