Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis, IN seeks a lead data engineer to design and deploy cloud-native data products and high-throughput pipelines. You will own end-to-end data asset lifecycle, optimize SQL and Spark workloads, and collaborate across data science and analytics teams to ensure scalable, compliant RWD assets.

This role emphasizes ETL/ELT development, CI/CD governance, and HIPAA-compliant data practices within a large pharmaceutical context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, statistics, IT, bioinformatics or a technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and BI/ETL pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and deployment of cloud-native data products and high-throughput pipelines.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of RWD data products from requirements to production deployment.
• Optimize SQL and distributed processing for large datasets across cloud environments.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analytics leaders and engineers to document standards and templates.
• Establish CI/CD and testing standards for reproducible pipeline code.
• Ensure regulatory and audit readiness for healthcare data assets.
