Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple product-focused engineering teams in a fast-paced, highly-scalable environment. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, and continuously improve development practices across the stack, from front-end to back-end services and data processing, including AI-enabled tooling.

This role emphasizes cloud-native architecture, microservices, and operating at low latency with a strong emphasis on scalability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
• Seven years of software engineering experience or more.
• Five+ years in people management and team leadership.
• Experience building scalable, cloud-based systems and microservices.
• Familiarity with AI tooling and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.
• Continuously improve software engineering practices.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools.
• Lead craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
• Stay updated with tech trends and mentor others in the engineering community.
• Promote innovation, inclusion, and cross-team collaboration.
• Drive deployment of applications into AWS environments.
• Break down monolithic apps into microservices and build new ones.
