Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a Solution Architect who will provide technical oversight to ensure software projects align with business strategy, enterprise architecture, and development methodologies. You’ll drive cloud adoption, mentor teams, and publish design artifacts to guide delivery.

You’ll lead migration of applications to the Cloud, evaluate native services, and act as a thought leader across SAFe-enabled Agile squads, partnering with Enterprise Architecture to shape multi-year roadmaps

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of multi-tier design and modern architectural patterns.
• Experience with modern Cloud technologies and platform migrations.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor developers.
• 7+ years in application development with 3+ years architecture experience in high-volume environments.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2 and Microsoft tech stack.
• Visionary mindset to build multi-year technical roadmaps.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bonus: knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, and reusable application solutions; publish architecture artifacts.
• Advocate enterprise architecture best practices and mentor teams.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to refine design methodologies and shape future state of systems.
• Lead cloud migrations and evaluate native cloud services to enhance scalability and resilience.
• Advise IT leadership on technical solutions and assess development teams' capabilities.
• Lead technical reviews of custom and packaged solutions and identify alignment gaps.
• Identify modernization opportunities and optimize application lifecycle management processes.
• Support Agile teams as an architecture leader using SAFe.
