Job summary

Trace3 is an innovation partner delivering cloud, security and data solutions. The Innovation R&D Lab internship supports building AWS environments for prototypes, MVPs, and technical reviews under guidance from senior staff.

As an intern you will gain hands-on cloud engineering experience, learn lab standards, automation, and cost controls while collaborating with engineers. This paid internship offers training and real-world project exposure in a dynamic tech environment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment as a junior or senior undergraduate student.
• Pursuing CS/IT/cloud-related field.
• Fundamental cloud computing concepts.
• Basic Linux and command line familiarity.
• Some AWS experience or certification ideal but not required; training provided.
• Git familiarity is a plus.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• GPA 3.0 or better.
• Academic or professional/internship experience is a plus.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Build and configure AWS environments for prototypes, proofs of concept, and MVPs.
• Learn core AWS lab standards with guidance from R&D engineers.
• Deploy security, data, and AI tools in lab environments for technical review.
• Prepare test environments, sample data, and basic validation scripts for PoCs.
• Automate small, well-scoped lab tasks with scripting; learn IaC tools.
• Document build steps, configurations, and lessons learned; runbooks maintained.
• Track and report resource usage and costs; shut down unused resources.
• Troubleshoot environment issues and escalate blockers promptly.
• Observe team meetings and prepare notes with takeaways.
• Complete capstone project near end of internship and present results.
• Work within security and cost controls in approved lab accounts.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
