Job summary

Professional Transportation Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Service Engineer to support Servigistics products and infrastructure within the PTC private cloud.

You will oversee patching, maintenance planning, and validation across hosted environments, coordinating with multiple teams to minimize disruption. Key responsibilities include coordinating OS patching, maintaining patch schedules, and ensuring system health post-maintenance.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems and Linux system administration.
• Experience with operating system patching, system maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Understanding of patch planning, maintenance windows, change coordination, and post-maintenance validation.
• Experience maintaining and configuring Apache, Java, and Tomcat.
• Familiarity with cloud computing technologies, including AWS and Azure.
• Basic Oracle database knowledge, including select, insert, delete, and join commands.
• Familiarity with ETL technologies such as Pentaho PDI.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate maintenance across multiple systems and environments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute operating system patching and recurring infrastructure maintenance across supported Servigistics environments.
• Develop and maintain patching schedules and maintenance plans, coordinating activities around required system time availability.
• Review systems prior to scheduled maintenance to identify prerequisites, dependencies, exceptions, or potential risks that could affect patching activities.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with internal teams, including Systems, Networking, DBA, R&D, and Application Support.
• Perform pre-maintenance and post-maintenance validation to confirm application availability, system health, and successful completion of planned activities.
• Track patch status and identify systems that are unsuccessful, deferred, or require additional remediation.
• Maintain and configure supporting application technologies such as Apache, Java, Tomcat, and other approved third-party components.
• Perform basic application and infrastructure troubleshooting when issues arise during or following scheduled maintenance.
