Job summary

Akina Inc. in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, is seeking a Senior SWE II for cloud-based geolocation solutions. You will design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure, build IaC modules, and ensure governance for scalable systems.

Fourteen years of SWE experience and a BS in CS are required; TX/SCI-level clearance is noted. The role involves Java and React development, container workloads, and cost/backup strategies, with a strong focus on reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure and services (compute, storage, networking, IAM).
• Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud architectures.
• Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, etc.
• Knowledge of container and platform workloads (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE).
• Development experience with Java and React.
• Experience configuring monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, etc. and responding to incidents.
• Experience implementing and testing backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
• Experience managing secrets and key management with tools such as KMS/KeyVault/Secret Manager, certificates, and rotation policies.
• Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance (e.g., tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling) and producing usage/cost reports.
• Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues across networking (DNS, routing, VPN), security, and service limits.
• Experience documenting architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Experience with Linux OS

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure (e.g., modernization, migration, roadmaps) with governance.
• Build reusable modules (e.g., Helm Charts, Terraform) and enforce IaC standards.
• Monitor health/performance using logging/alerting; identify issues and implement fixes.
• Provide strategies for failure/recovery and cost optimization; analyze benefits of cloud services.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system capabilities and efficiency.
• Contribute to deliverables (architectures, runbooks, operational procedures) and knowledge transfer.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to current systems.
