Job summary

Network Designs, Inc. (NDi) seeks a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, operate, and improve secure cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure for FAA data and analytics under the EIDIP program.

The role supports AWS GovCloud, Azure, and hybrid environments, with remote work allowed for select states and occasional CONUS travel. Candidate must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining FAA suitability clearance, with at least 4 years in cloud engineering and strong collaboration and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of cloud engineering or similar professional experience.
• Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure in enterprise or government environments.
• Hands-on with AWS GovCloud or AWS Commercial Cloud, VPC, IAM, Lambda, EKS, and cloud networking.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation, monitoring, scalability, resiliency, and secure cloud configuration.
• Ability to obtain FAA Contractor Personnel Suitability.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate secure cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure for enterprise data and applications.
• Build and maintain cloud networking, VPCs, IAM, containers, serverless services, compute, storage, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
• Develop and sustain infrastructure-as-code and automation for repeatable environment configuration, deployment and scaling.
• Support platform modernization, migration pilots, cutover planning, resiliency, and cost-efficient cloud operations.
• Support cloud security and governance including patching, logging, and documentation.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational artifacts.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and risks.

Job Description:

NDi is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the FAA Chief Data Office Enterprise Information & Data Integration Program (EIDIP). The Cloud Engineer will design, deploy, operate, and improve secure cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure supporting FAA data, analytics, and application platforms across AWS GovCloud, approved commercial cloud environments, Azure, and hybrid infrastructure.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• This position is remote, candidate must reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OK, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV
• Occasional travel may be required. Candidates should be able to attend meetings at FAA facilities and other locations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS) as required.
• Must be available during Eastern Time (ET) business hours to support program needs and FAA coordination.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Must have a minimum 4 years of cloud engineering or similar professional experience
• Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure in enterprise or government environments.
  
• Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud or AWS Commercial Cloud, VPC, IAM, Lambda, EKS, and cloud networking.
  
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation, operational monitoring, scalability, resiliency, and secure cloud configuration.
  
• Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Contractor Personnel Suitability.
  
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• FAA or other federal experience and experience working in regulated enterprise environments.
  
• Experience with Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  
• Relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications.
  
• Familiarity with FAA security, governance, architecture, documentation, and change-management requirements.

• Develop and sustain infrastructure-as-code and automation that supports repeatable environment configuration, deployment, scaling, and operational management.
• Support platform modernization, legacy-to-cloud assessments, migration pilots, cutover planning, resiliency improvements, and cost-efficient cloud operations.
• Support cloud security and governance requirements, including patching, vulnerability remediation, logging, monitoring, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, system documentation, standard operating procedures, runbooks, metrics, and operational artifacts.
• Coordinate with platform, application, data, DevOps, architecture, and security teams to resolve incidents, dependencies, and implementation risks.
