Job summary

Astrion seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer at Eglin AFB, FL to design, implement, and support our cloud infrastructure. You will work with test squads, developers, and leadership to ensure reliability, security, and scalability of cloud services and apps.

Strong cloud, scripting, IaC, and CI/CD experience are required. Responsibilities include building automated cloud environments, monitoring performance, and cost management while maintaining security and compliance throughout the stack.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship required.
• Strong understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• IaC tools Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM.
• Containers with Docker/Kubernetes.
• CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps.
• Networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
• Security best practices and compliance experience.
• Monitoring/logging with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.

Responsibilities

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an SE-4 Cloud Engineer located at Eglin AFB, FL.

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of 48 Cyberspace Test Squadron’s cloud infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, technologies, and best practices. The Cloud Engineer will work closely with squadron test teams, developers, and leadership to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of 48CTS cloud-based services and applications. This role encompasses building, automating, and optimizing cloud infrastructure to meet current and future business needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted for education.
• Active Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Experience with one or more major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager).
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

• Design, build, and deploy scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Select appropriate cloud services and technologies based on business requirements and cost considerations.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.
• Configure and manage virtual machines, containers, networking, storage, and databases in the cloud.
• Implement and manage cloud-based security controls, including identity and access management (IAM), network security groups, and encryption.

Cloud Infrastructure Management and Maintenance:

• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and identify areas for optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues in a timely manner.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as patching, upgrades, and backups.
• Implement and maintain cloud monitoring and alerting systems.
• Manage and optimize cloud costs.

Automation and Orchestration:

• Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications.
• Implement and manage container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker Swarm).
