Job summary

Chewy, based in Boston, MA, seeks a Software Engineer II on the Cloud Engineering team. You will build customer-facing features, automate systems, and improve observability for the e-commerce platform.

Collaborate across engineering to deliver self-service solutions and advance Chewy's enterprise platforms. You will mentor junior engineers, participate in scrum ceremonies, and help evolve development practices while thriving in a hybrid work model in Boston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/IS, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of Java programming experience.
• 3+ years of AWS cloud experience.
• 3+ years of frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, NodeJS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience designing scalable, highly available systems.
• Ability to break down requirements and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to build scalable and performant code.
• Architect a resilient system for a customer-facing web application from scratch.
• Partner with stakeholders and technology teams to implement features.
• Drive rapid prototyping and iterative development.
• Collaborate to drive automated solutions and reusable tooling.
• Contribute to logging, testing, instrumentation, metrics, and monitoring practices.
• Conduct design and code reviews and raise engineering rigor.
• Mentor junior engineers and set development guidelines.
• Participate in scrum ceremonies and on-call rotations.
