About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and security-conscious hands on deep knowledge - Systems Engineer – Azure to join our team supporting critical cloud infrastructure for a high-impact federal environment. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable Azure environments while ensuring compliance with federal standards such as FedRAMP, NIST, and DoD frameworks.
As a key contributor to our cloud operations, you'll work closely with security, development, and operations teams to align Azure solutions with mission and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Azure Cloud Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain core Azure services including VMs, VNets, Storage, and Azure Active Directory (AAD).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate deployments using Terraform, ARM templates, and Ansible.
- Security & Compliance: Implement RBAC, IAM policies, NSGs, Key Vault, and Azure Policy to meet stringent federal compliance requirements.
- CI/CD Automation: Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
- Monitoring & Optimization: Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for system visibility and performance tuning.
- Cloud Networking: Configure ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Load Balancers, and Azure Front Door for secure and optimized connectivity.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Deploy and manage Docker containers and AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).
- Scripting & Automation: Write PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripts for system tasks, automation, and monitoring.
- Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Implement resilient architectures with Azure Site Recovery, Backup, and multi-region strategies.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders to ensure cloud implementations align with operational and security goals.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or systems administration with a focus on Azure.
- Certifications: Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or equivalent Azure certification preferred.
- Security Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Azure security tools, IAM, encryption, and compliance (FedRAMP, NIST, RMF).
- Automation Skills: Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and CI/CD toolchains.
- Networking: Proficient in VNets, NSGs, load balancers, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity.
- Containerization: Hands-on with AKS and Docker for scalable service deployments.
- Scripting: Fluent in PowerShell, Bash, Python, and YAML/JSON for cloud infrastructure automation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting federal agencies or DoD cloud environments
- Familiarity with serverless tools: Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid
- Knowledge of cost optimization using Azure Cost Management & FinOps practices

Pay: $90.00 - $95.00 per hour
