Job summary

Platinum Technologies seeks a Cloud Engineer at Fort Meade, MD with an active Secret clearance. You will design, implement, and secure cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, while driving automation, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines in alignment with DoD/Federal frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, or Master's with 10+ years; advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Industry cloud certs such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise cloud solutions in AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, or CloudFormation.
• Experience implementing automation using Ansible, PowerShell, Azure Functions, or similar.
• IAM/ICAM technologies including Azure AD, Okta, CyberArk, or similar.
• Strong networking, virtualization, storage, and cloud security principles.
• Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA).
• Experience supporting production enterprise environments in operations/maintenance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills for distributed teams.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
• Experience supporting large-scale migrations or hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud infra across AWS and Azure.
• Deploy and manage IaC solutions with automation/orchestration tools.
• Support cloud modernization, including migration of on-prem services to cloud.
• Troubleshoot Tier 3 cloud infra, networking, IAM, and app issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and architecture teams.
• Contribute to cloud architecture for scalable, resilient environments.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Enforce cloud security best practices & DoD/Federal frameworks alignment.
• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, cost optimizations.
• Develop technical docs, SOPs, and engineering standards.
• Support continuous service improvement across DES environment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Platinum Technologies currently has an opportunity for a Cloud Engineer

This role is located at Fort Meade, M.D. Candidate must hold an active Secret clearance.

What you get to do.

• Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-based infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure environments
• Deploy and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using automation and orchestration tools
• Support enterprise cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of on-premises services and workloads to cloud environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Tier 3 cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, and application issues
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and architecture teams to ensure cloud solutions align with enterprise standards and mission requirements
• Contribute to cloud architecture design efforts supporting scalable, resilient, and highly available environments
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
• Enforce cloud security best practices and compliance requirements, including alignment with DoD and Federal cybersecurity frameworks
• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, optimization, and cost efficiency improvements
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards

Required Skills.

• Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in distributed technical teams
• Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise migrations or hybrid cloud environments
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
