Job summary

Soni is partnering with a client to hire a Cloud Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable cloud infra across Azure and AWS. The role emphasizes monitoring, DR/HA, cost governance, and automation with Terraform, involving collaboration with IT, security, and development teams.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in IT with 4–6 years in cloud administration, and holds related certs. Compensation up to $140,000 annually, with on-site Dallas work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• 6–8 years in IT with 4–6 years Azure/AWS administration.
• Strong experience with cloud architecture, deployment and ops.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or IaC tools.
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Familiarity with Datadog or cloud-native monitors.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Solutions Architect certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Optimize resources, configurations and policies for governance and cost.

• Support IaC automation, primarily Terraform.

Soni is partnered with a client seeking a Cloud Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, security, and compliance using native and third-party tools
• Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and failover strategies to ensure business continuity
• Optimize cloud resources, configurations, and policies to align with best practices for governance, cost, and security
• Support cloud migrations from on-premises to Azure and AWS
• Serve as SME for cloud architecture, operations, troubleshooting, and service inquiries
• Collaborate with developers, network, cybersecurity, and IT teams to support enterprise initiatives
• Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architecture, standards, and operational procedures
• Support infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), primarily Terraform
• Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization efforts
• Ensure adherence to governance policies including tagging and cost management standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 6–8 years of relevant experience with 4–6 years in Azure and/or AWS administration
• Strong experience with cloud architecture, deployment, and operations
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or other IaC tools
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog or cloud-native equivalents
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Preferred: Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications

Compensation: Up to $140,000 annually
