Job summary

XTS is seeking an Applications Engineer to support USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center by enhancing public-facing applications that deliver authoritative geographic information. You’ll work on existing systems, improve functionality, and ensure scalable data workflows in the AWS cloud.

The role emphasizes understanding other’s code, troubleshooting, and building maintainable solutions while collaborating in a technical environment to move The National Map forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience in software or applications engineering.
• Proficiency in JavaScript with ability to read and improve existing codebase; troubleshoot and enhance functionality.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance public-facing applications for The National Map.
• Work with AWS technologies to automate cloud-based data workflows and improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement improvements to make code more scalable and maintainable.
