Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a Software Engineer (Cloud & DevSecOps) to support RDTE efforts in Dahlgren, VA. You will help plan, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable software while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen system reliability and operational efficiency.

The role emphasizes cloud engineering, DevSecOps automation, secure coding, and modern full-stack development across Azure and AWS environments. On-site with DoD-focused mission work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5–8 years in software engineering, cloud, DevOps, or related disciplines.
• Experience with enterprise web applications.
• Strong JavaScript and modern development principles.
• Hands-on Azure and/or AWS cloud experience.
• GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
• Container deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience with Vault or secure secrets management.
• Knowledge of secure coding and cybersecurity requirements.
• Ability to work with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain secure web applications for mission-critical operations.
• Contribute to architecture, design decisions, and long-term sustainability.
• Develop with modern languages and full-stack tech.
• Integrate apps with data sources, analytics, and reporting.
• Create automated testing strategies across unit to acceptance tests.
• Perform code reviews and optimize software quality.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across software, infra, and cloud.
• Modernize legacy apps and improve development processes.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain secure deployments.
