The AOS team delivers e-commerce systems that support buying experiences on apple.com. We build a top-tier e-commerce platform, keeping the Apple brand at the forefront, designed for global reach with regional nuances. Our tech stack includes open source technologies, custom frameworks, front-end tech, middleware, application servers, cloud infrastructure (AWS and others), and various databases (relational, NewSQL, NoSQL).

Description

We seek a skilled Database Engineer in a DevOps role, passionate about operational excellence through automation. You will ensure seamless integration of development and operations to deliver highly available systems.

The main responsibilities include:

1. Design, implement, and maintain database systems, focusing on RDBMS, NoSQL, and NewSQL (e.g., Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, Couchbase, MongoDB, Aerospike, CockroachDB).
2. Proficient in AWS data services like RDS Oracle, Aurora Postgres, CloudFormation, EC2, EBS, S3, Route53, IAM, KMS.
3. Expand system capacity and performance of data stores.
4. Analyze and select appropriate DB technologies; define design, architecture, and deployment pipelines.
5. Lead secure, robust, and highly available DevOps pipelines for data stores, including data refreshes and deployments.
6. Automate build and deployment processes for data stores.
7. Collaborate with engineers, QA, and project managers throughout the software lifecycle.
8. Implement zero-downtime, push-button deployment at scale for infrastructure including data stores.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in computer science or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience.
• Proven expertise as a Data Store engineer with relational and NoSQL/NewSQL technologies.
• Experience leading projects from design to deployment and operations.
• Strong understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL architectures, clustering, replication, conflict handling, query languages, and performance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience tuning data store performance and queries.
• Knowledge of database security concepts (Certificates, SSL/TLS, mTLS, SQL injection, TCP/TCPS).
• Experience with AWS database management and monitoring via CloudWatch (CPU, IOPS, latency, throughput).

Pay & Benefits
