Description

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a group of “A” player software engineers from related but different backgrounds to make POS truly innovative. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be hands-on, proactive, talented at problem solving, have the attitude to challenge the norm, and have a strong desire to learn and work towards perfection. Apple is looking for an individual that takes pride in crafting solutions to enhance product delivery by architecting and leading distributed compute platforms and application services. This engineer needs to work closely with cross-functional teams to identify potential solutions and go on to work with the engineering teams to properly test and deploy changes. Critical thinking, writing solid and clean code, planning, documenting, and communicating within the team and cross-functionally is critical to the success of the role. Their role will include:

  1. Passion for eliminating repetitive manual processes using automation
  2. Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities
  3. Shepherding applications through the software delivery life cycle
  4. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of trends and standard methodologies within Apple
  5. Setup and analyze application health metrics and provide solutions to ensure stability
  6. Design and maintain GitOps-driven deployment pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.
  7. Collaborate with developers to containerize services, enforce best practices, and reduce dependency overhead.
  8. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
  9. Mentor junior team members and contribute to documentation and process improvements.
  10. Experience troubleshooting problems and working with a team to resolve large scale production issues
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated a strong proficiency in software development using Python, Rust, and/or Java programming languages
  • Proficiency with Git and GitOps workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
  • Experience working with cloud compute environments like OpenStack, AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, CI/CD, and automation
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and debugging skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Expertise with AWS services (EKS, ECR, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.)
  • Proficiency in implementing and correlating telemetry using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Building and operating container orchestrating systems (Docker, Kubernetes and micro-services)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux Operating Systems

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
