Job summary

Banc of California in Durham, NC seeks a Data Platform Engineer to build and operate a modern cloud-based data platform using Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and dbt. You will land source data into the Snowflake Raw layer, optimize pipelines, implement CI/CD and DataOps, and enable trusted data for enterprise reporting, analytics, and AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 3-4 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (ADF, ADLS Gen2, Synapse).
• Experience developing and supporting data solutions on Snowflake.
• Familiarity with dbt or similar frameworks.
• Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD and source control.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Experience with DataOps, data governance tools (Power BI, Purview, Alteryx).
• Experience in Banking/Financial Services.
• Azure certifications (AZ-900, DP-203) and/or Snowflake SnowPro.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and enhance the bank’s cloud-based data platform (Azure, Snowflake, dbt).
• Develop and optimize ingestion pipelines from source systems to Snowflake Raw layer.
• Support onboarding of new source systems and ensure data quality for downstream analytics.
• Provide deployment automation and platform services supporting dbt workloads.
• Tune Snowflake compute, storage, and query performance for cost efficiency.
• Develop monitoring, runbooks, and Tier 2 support for production workloads.
• Support CI/CD deployments using Azure DevOps and Git; SOX-compliant controls.
• Implement data governance and platforms like Purview, Power BI, and Alteryx integration.
• Contribute to platform resilience and disaster recovery with IaC deployments.
