Position Summary

Our expertise lies in delivering tailored solutions in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Project Management. We have a diverse, global team of consultants, all working remotely, embodying a collaborative, inclusive, and innovation‑driven work culture. We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Platform Architect to advise clients and design scalable, modern cloud data platforms that enable enterprise reporting, analytics, and data integration. This role combines deep technical expertise in cloud architecture (AWS/Azure), data modeling, and data platform design with a consultative approach to client engagement, solution scoping, and long‑term architectural planning.


Location & Compensation

Remote, USA – Full‑time – Salary 150k‑180k + annual bonus.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare client recommendations, proposals, and quotes; develop solution sets.

  • Develop, document, and communicate recommended plans for Azure/AWS cloud data platform/infrastructure, including analysis of cost‑reduction opportunities.

  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.

  • Develop objectives and strategies, and ensure all documentation is properly maintained and updated in a timely manner.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), including readiness, provisioning, security, and governance preferred (but not required). Responsible for planning activities that define the information needs of the enterprise and designing the master data blueprints to meet those needs within the context of all enterprise data architecture and the connections with information systems, information technologies, and solutions.


Main Objectives


  • Plan with vision and foresight to provide high quality data.

  • Identify and define common information requirements.

  • Design conceptual structures and plans to meet the current and long‑term data requirements of the enterprise.

  • Coordinate data governance activities promoting higher data consistency and improved data quality.

  • Organize and contribute to improved customer satisfaction and organizational effectiveness through metrics and tangible and intangible factors.

  • Guide data design and development across systems for reporting, enterprise data integration, analytic and data warehousing initiatives.

  • Provide guidance for activities related to Enterprise Data Governance and Data Stewardship committees.

  • Serve as a key stakeholder in Data Stewardship committee and provide direction for data cataloging, data modeling and other data workgroups.

  • Create and support a robust, flexible and sustainable data architecture.

  • Assist in strategic evaluation of data warehouse tools, solutions, applications and frameworks.

  • Contribute to the establishment of a Data Governance Practice. Participate in the creation of standards and processes that maintain the quality of data domains.

  • Conduct discovery, perform root‑cause analysis, and make recommendations for the remediation of data quality issues.

  • Design and recommend data policies and governance structures and control frameworks for the ongoing management of data.

  • Define, maintain and report on data quality metrics.


Requirements


  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience creating logical and physical data models; demonstrated experience with relational and star schema data modeling.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud implementation and architecture.

  • Expertise with database architecture.

  • Expertise with Google Cloud or Databricks or Snowflake.

  • Expertise using data modeling tools; excellent advanced SQL skills required.

  • Superior business analysis and problem‑solving skills.

  • Knowledge of business intelligence best practice processes, tools, standards and practices.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual design skills.

  • Experience with big data, semi‑structured data.

  • Experience with BI tools and visual reporting platforms from an architecture standpoint.

  • Familiarity working with one major cloud‑based data and analytics platform implementation – AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Demonstrated experience and success in facilitation and definition of reporting and analytics business requirements.

  • Experience with/knowledge of canonical models and enterprise data architectural standards, with long‑term outlook.

  • Experience in migrating from on‑premise enterprise data warehouse to cloud‑based.

  • Experience implementing a data lake.

  • BS / BA in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics or Engineering.
