Job summary

West Monroe is seeking a Data Architect for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design scalable, secure data platforms with BigQuery at the core. You will guide engineering teams, advise clients on data modernization, and leverage AI tools to drive insights and value.

Hybrid role with 2x in-office weekly and frequent NYC client travel. 7+ years in data roles and strong GCP expertise required; certifications preferred. Salary varies by location and office proximity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering or data architecture roles delivering enterprise data solutions.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, including data modeling, performance optimization, security, and cost management.
• Experience with GCP data services such as Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, or Dataform.
• Experience designing batch and/or streaming data pipelines and modern cloud data architectures.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, data governance, and data quality practices.
• Ability to communicate architecture decisions and tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders.
• Google Cloud certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms on GCP, with BigQuery as a core analytics and data warehousing technology.
• Lead technical design across data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, governance, orchestration, and consumption.
• Design BigQuery data models and architectures balancing performance, scalability, security, and cost.
• Guide engineering teams through design, testing, and implementation while maintaining delivery quality.
• Advise clients on modernizing legacy data platforms and migrating workloads to GCP.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis and support data-driven recommendations for clients.
• Apply AI technologies to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate client outcomes.
• Serve as technical SME in pursuits involving GCP, BigQuery, and data modernization.
