Job summary

JANUS Research Group seeks a Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer to lead RMF/ATO efforts for DoD cloud environments and champion a modern DevSecOps approach. You will guide cross-functional teams through the full ATO lifecycle and collaborate with senior DoD stakeholders.

The role requires an active Secret clearance, DoD 8570 Level II certification, and extensive RMF experience across DoD programs, with a focus on NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 and security controls in cloud architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of direct cybersecurity engineering or information assurance experience.
• ATO lifecycle navigation experience from initial system registration to final authorization.
• Proficiency with RMF workflows, controls, and artifacts using eMASS.
• Deep knowledge of DoD information security policies (DoDI 8510.01, DISA STIGs, FedRAMP).
• Strong understanding of NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 controls in cloud architectures.
• DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC).

Responsibilities

• Strategic oversight of cybersecurity policy, strategy, and compliance across enterprise cloud applications.
• Develop and deliver system security and information assurance documentation for accreditation.
• Lead DevSecOps integration for security testing and control implementation in line with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5.
• Devise policy recommendations to streamline ATO timelines.
• Provide hands-on guidance for platform- and application-level security controls and risk mitigation.
• Engage with senior policy directors at the DoD to align technical execution with mission objectives.
