Technical Recruiting Leader @ Blu Omega with Delivery Expertise

The Cloud Curriculum Developer supports the NIH Center for Information Technology (CIT)’s mission to share advanced technology solutions with the broader research community.

In this role, you will collaborate with professors, researchers, and educators to create hands-on tutorials aligned with academic syllabi. You'll also play a key role in developing proof-of-concept pipelines—such as AI-driven workflows for bioinformatics—and helping users evaluate different cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to suit their research or educational needs.

This is a dynamic, community-facing position ideal for someone with a strong background in enabling cloud-based scientific tools and a passion for empowering research and education through technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Engagement & Educational Content Development

  • Partner with college and university professors to develop tutorials that align with course syllabi in subjects like data science, bioinformatics, and computational biology.
  • Build hands-on labs and cloud training modules that teach real-world skills in cloud computing and data analytics.
  • Help instructors and students incorporate cloud sandbox credits into their curriculum.

Scientific Workflow & AI Integration

  • Design and support bioinformatics workflows using cloud-native tools, including pipelines that integrate AI and machine learning for genomic or biomedical analysis.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance for researchers and students building or adapting pipelines within the environment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and domain experts to test tools, data repositories, and scalable analytics platforms.
  • Guide users—scientists, educators, and program managers—through selecting the most appropriate cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) based on their project needs.
  • Assist in the provisioning and setup of sandbox environments and computing resources.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on cloud infrastructure as it relates to academic and scientific research.

Community Engagement & Events

  • Organize and facilitate workshops, hackathons, and community-driven events to drive awareness, skill-building, and experimentation.
  • Develop reusable educational content, quick-start guides, and case studies to support scaling adoption across institutions.
  • Capture community feedback to improve onboarding flows and refine the experience.

Program Development & Reporting

  • Track engagement and usage metrics, and share outcomes with ODSS and NIH-CIT leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to the ecosystem to better support researchers and educators.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends in cloud computing, scientific AI applications, and STEM education.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and supporting cloud-based tools for scientific research or education.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more commercial cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and with scientific computing or data workflows.
  • Strong instructional design or tutorial development skills, particularly for technical content.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills for engaging technical and non-technical audiences
